The EASS Christopher Columbus
The EASS Christopher Columbus arrived in Coyote orbit in 2339, having left Earth in 2290, thirty years after The WHSS Spirit Of Social Collectivism, but before any of the WHU’s ships had made it back to Earth.
The European Alliance had resented the Union’s militaristic nature and desire to exploit Coyote, and focused themselves on forming a trade-agreement with the sister world.
The EA had miraculously acquired the physician Jonas Whittaker, who was part of the scientific team responsible for designing mankind’s first ever starship, the URSS Alabama, the first ship to colonise Coyote. His research enabled the Alliance to construct a Starbridge capable of transporting ships directly to Coyote’s orbit, avoiding the need for passengers to spend fifty years in biostasis.
The EASS Columbus was purposefully designed to be deconstructed, and re-built as the Starbridge’s main frame.
