Coyote Rising Characters...
Fernando Baptiste
Fernando Baptiste had spent almost his entire life on The Moon. He was the commanding officer of The WHSS Spirit, the fifth Destiny Class star ship that would travel to Coyote. He had been highly recommended for the mission, with over twelve years of deep space experience, and had been awarded The Union’s highest military medal of honour. Just before The Spirit’s launch, he was to have a meeting with the highest-ranking Union Officer on the Moon, about the current status of his ship’s mission.
Each Union starship had carried 1000 colonists to coyote, in order to ‘take social collectivism to the stars’ and save man kind. As far as he was aware, his mission was no different. Captain the ship to Coyote, ensure the safe passage of his colonists, and return the ship to earth.
The Savant Council had concluded that the original Alabama colonists would resent any newcomers, and revolt against them. The Union was not prepared to allow Coyote to fall out of its control, and intended to assert itself. As a result, even though the success of the Alabama mission was unknown, The Spirit’s civilian crew was reduced and its military presence increased.
